we heart this sweet blog...

(photo of sweet fine day's lychee sorbet)

I just stumbled across this yummy little blog today and had to share it with all of you.
Maybe it is Autumn or perhaps a super tight budget that makes me crave
sweets but you have to admit these are pretty delicious looking
and the sweet photos of Jenna and Mark's girls make this blog even more fun.

Wishing I could take a trip to Brooklyn just to drop by their home and beg a treat or two off of them.
You feeling it too?

Happy 'we heart thursdays', you gorgeous people!
Now get out and have a great day!

mild wednesday brings new challenges...

Fresh off the press, so to speak are both July and August's challenges!!
Woot Woot!
I know this post is a little late but sometimes living in the moment is more important than getting a post on a blog up early.  I'm sure you will agree.
So here are the sweet challenges:

Hmm...that may be just what I was doing.
I think it is ever so important to be in the moment.
Like when your kids want to play or your love wants a kiss..
stop what you are doing and enjoy life...
eating up every little bit, right?!

Another things we neglect is the music of life at times and why not, however off key you may be, even if it is in the privacy of your home...
belt it out?
Sing a song of praise or one that is simply from the heart and makes you smile with thankfulness for the life you have.!
It brings out the positive in you and you'll have the pleasure of unabashedly living  in that moment and singing your heart out.

Tell me these don't make life worthy of living!
The little moments are what make up our lives.
Enjoy!
Happy mild wednesday, friends!!

things i am loving this morning...

Bella's mischievous nature...
(she was too cute to get upset with when she stole a bag of nacho cheese chips out of the pantry yesterday)

Lotus tea ...
my mom's recipe for danishes which we finally made...
(even if the flour here makes them a bit more chewy)

and that it is finally cold enough to snuggle under cozy blankets.
What are you loving today?

happy moods make for happy art...

I worked on a couple of college pieces last week for my calendar project and noticed over the past few days that I wasn't happy with them at all.
I really believe that just like happy moods make for happy art,
stressful and unhappy moods make for a sad art.
Hoping you all agree that the same challenges look a little cheerier this week.

These are the little unhappy pieces pictured below...
which have now gone to a better place.

Below are the happier looking challenges, in my opinion.

I really believe that mood effects so much of our lives.
Wishing we could always find that sweet, happy place in life.
Wishing you the best beginning to this new week.

friday's findings...

Our knitted skirts match the gorgeous flowers we picked from the backyard this week....

We both love drawing in our sketchbooks....
Thanks cabin+cub!

I love jasmine tea with honey in the morning even better than coffee and just the scent alone is enough to be rather intoxicating....

If I had any extra money today, I would buy these from here.
Happy Friday to all of our friends and family!
What are your findings from this week?
Love,
~all of us

we heart child like simplicity...

After enjoying a latte and sketching in these gorgeous little notebooks I purchased from Cabin and Cub, covered with simple yet beautiful artwork by Valerie,

I noticed that I definitely have an adoration of all that is simple.
Maybe it is that life as an adult is complicated as it is,
whatever it is there is definitely an attachment to all that is simple and even somewhat childlike.

Who wouldn't love the simplistic illustrations artist, Helen Dardik creates?
They bring out the child in me.
Do they make you feel like a kid again too?

And if you are loving on simple art screen prints, then this artist will bring on a good bit of happy!
Jane Foster's blog and shop are loaded with fun items and simple, child like art.  The kind of art that makes me smile like no other art can.
Happy 'we heart thursdays'!
What makes your heart happy today?

mild wednesday brings new challenges...

Sometimes...
people like myself, have a stubborn streak that runs to the very core of who they are...
like bad habits...
bad thoughts can be hard to break...
so
the challenge to think the best of everyone and everything should prove to be a great feat for me.
"Grow" is a challenge to be ever learning.
Take a class or read up on something you don't know much about.
Half of the way there!! woot! woot!
My week thus far has proven to be challenging and I hope to get to everyone's blogs soon.
Thanks for all your wonderful comments and kindness!
What challenges are you facing this mild wednesday?

to have an eggnog latte or not to have an eggnog latte...

One thing I have noted while working in the coffee industry is that eggnog is one of those love them or leave them type drinks.
Being raised in a family that loved them, probably had a good deal to do with my passion for eggnog.
I am not fond of the fat or egg yolks though, so I was quite happy to find this low fat recipe, no yolk recipe and thought for all of you out there like myself...
sharing something as good as this, is always sweet!
Curious if you love, or dislike eggnog?
Enjoy your Tuesday!!

we heart etsy prints...

New construction and horrid beige walls have an ugly effect in our home.
So I have been looking for inspiration elsewhere.
I have been loving bright spaces with white walls, colourful decor and a slightly historical feel from Europe and Scandinavia.
Nina's home is particularly awe inspiring to both Don and myself.
Her space is light filled, has glorious white walls, and a mod feel, enlivened even more with her vintage finds and gorgeous, eye-popping art work.
The best news to me is that her collages and photography work, that I have admired for so long, are now in her shop, in print form.
I am not sure if it is the affordability or the way prints look so beautiful displayed, in light coloured wooden frames,  whatever it is, it has me thinking about prints today and all the Etsy art prints we love.

Annamaria's gorgeous artwork with her exquisite lines and wonderful colours are also available in prints in her Etsy shop.

And lastly, Belinda's bright coloured prints
with their day dreamy feel
have me swooning on this 'we heart' Thursday.
Feeling the urge to do some Etsy shopping soon!
How about you?

Happy Thursday, everyone!
What do you heart this cool, rainy (here in Charlotte, NC, anyways) Thursday?

this mild wednesday has me on #4...

Sometimes when I am working on smaller pieces like the calendar sized ones, right now, I get a little engrossed in my work and forget to snap some photos.
This time, as you can tell by the photo above, I finally took one of this collage in mid-progress.

My 3rd challenge is for March, to shine!!
I have noticed this trend in North American cultures to think only of one's self in daily life and to put one's self first.
For instance the other day when pulling into a parking lot of a market, I noticed that a lady loaded down with grocery bags and holding the hand of a small child, was trying to cross at a crosswalk.  Three cars zipped past her without as much as a glance or thought of her.
I think for this month even in the little things it would do our world a good bit of light, if we all would shine,
by thinking of others first sometimes.

And then there is this whole entrapping ones' self, sometimes by thinking way too much 'in the box'.
You may live in the most boring, visually displeasing town in the world but there are always different perspectives to find.
So get out of that 'box' and bee free is for April.

January, February, March and April are complete, which is pretty exciting for me.
Now to get the originals up in the shop and play with that cute little girl of mine.
What is everybody up to on this mild wednesday?
xoxo
Cheers!
