things i am loving this morning...

my morning coffee with gingerbread eggnog...

(whoever invented this eggnog is brilliant)

these books I bought ages ago and am now enjoying afresh...

plaster mixed with new shades of gray for a feel of Old Montreal...
(I think the new soft grays are more soothing than the old light blue.)
Friends that love me even when I seem to be so consumed with work

and the reason I am working so hard this week...
I am really loving most of all....

and that is that my parents are coming for Christmas!!!
I haven't seen them in two years...
so this is pretty
EXCITING
for me!
(wishing the rest of my family could come out too)
YAY for family!!

Anyways...
thanks for putting up with my busy nest adjustments...
I still have a million walls to paint white and the soft gray one to complete along with a guest room to build...
but I hope to check out what you are all up to today, friends!

sail away......

What makes some people view the world with such a beautiful and unique lens, like the lovely Ann Wood?
I am working on our space, trying to see any kind of beauty in our home today as I slave away painting walls.
Wishing I could sail away to the world of Ann Wood.

How about you?
Happy Monday, friends!

pay it forward...

I don't know if anyone can make a package as quite as pretty as Melissa from Design Delights.

This morning I received this lovely package topped with a pretty little baker's twine heart....
too pretty to open and inside were beautiful little vellum envelopes sealed with adorable printed tapes.
Inside of those little vellum envelopes were the most gorgeous little Etsy surprises from the linen handprinted bags to the little wooden pencils with the words, 'happy day to you', the packages of bakers twine to hold the sweet hand made vintage looking tags, fun unicorn thank you cards with checkered envelopes, a wonderful diary that I know will help me be more grateful for all the little things in life, a teensy little red with white polka dotted mushroom that Bella is sure was meant to be a ring for her little finger

and my very favourite was the contents of a little linen bag with a camera printed on it: adorable seeds that look like mini pumpkins and the sweetest hand made acorn made with the cheeriest green wool along a wonderful wooden, faux boix heart pin.

Hoping I can pay it forward to three other people in as beautiful a fashion as my sweet friend, Melissa?
I am not sure how, but I will be busy thinking about my pay it forward giveaway this week and will be sure to share it all with you next week.
Happy Weekend!
What are you all doing this weekend?

wishful thinking...

Does anyone else out there have days where they wish they were 2 again?
Some days when I am working on a plethora of things that feel like they will never get done, especially housework...ugh...along with taxi-ing my 4 children from one event to the other...banking, budgeting, cooking...
I could go on but I will save your eyes from boredom and just say that those are the times I look at my little Bella and wistfully wish to be small and carefree to snuggle with a bunny and a blanket while watching
Yo Gabba Gabba...

to run around and dance with a fluffly little bear...

to sneak more Doritos and be so cute that my mom can't get mad....

Now doesn't that sound sweet when you're working on a to do list that seems a mile long?
Happy Thursday, friends!
All that to say
a
BIG
WOOT! WOOT!!!
A ton of loving work is now finally looking pretty in our little shop!!
Go and check them out
here and here
because
You will want one...

You need one...
ya gotta have one!!
Trust me, I'm never wrong on these things!
Loving every last one of you!
What was your favourite thing to do as a little kid?
Happy Thursday and its almost the weekend!

caught smoking this weekend...

Alright, so we weren't smoking old stogies...
we were smoking up some salmon and let me tell you, I think it was the best I have ever had....
Thank you, baby!!

There is something about the smell of charcoal, hardwood and cedar smoking that brings out the wilderness girl in me.  I think the experience of smoking your own fish is incredible.
(I am not doing a complete vegetarian menu anymore, but cutting out anything with high amounts of iron, like red meats.  I seem to get symptoms of Hemochromatosis when I eat high iron foods, which include extreme fatigue and pain in joints, etc., hence the avoiding high iron foods.) It is kind of nice enjoying fish again, though and it doesn't seem to affect me poorly.
Don did all the work of smoking the fish and I just got enjoy the experience and the delicious smoked salmon on bagels with cream cheese and capers.
YUM!

I love my cute husband and it doesn't hurt that he is amazing at smoking!
What were you up to this weekend?
Wishing you all a happy week!

friday's findings...

I think it is kind of funny that when I am missing home this time of year, everything starts to remind me of snow
from the cream cheese icing atop a gingery mountain of a muffin....

to the new white ceramic raindrops and feathery Christmas tags I am working on....

to the ginger coconut latte and the Thai gelled coconut I ate for breakfast...

to the ceramic feathers in my shop....

all the way to Bella's soft white shirt, her new cute little snowman ornament she chose this year and the soft white packages I am getting ready to mail out today.
I guess it is just my day to dream of snow.
What are you dreaming of today?
Happy weekend, lovely people!

10 things about moi....

I rarely do posts with awards but I am so in the mood after receiving this sweet award from my friend, Mellissa.

I'll tell you ten things about me and then you can tell me 10 things about you.
1.I wish I could wear a fringe like this.

2. I can't wake up without this...and if I do...I am kinda grumpy.

3.I dream of traveling everywhere.

4.I love listening to these girls.

5. I love wearing my mukluks and giggle at people's funny comments about them.

6.  Dream of waking up to this view every morning.

7. love, love, LOVE old globes

8. I really hope to one day to be the proud owner of these.

9. My favourite piece of architecture is this.

10. I think it would be really cool, if everyone who came to our blog bought a calendar when they are up in the shop so that I could go home to Canada for Christmas.
Thanks, Melissa for this sweet award!

I'm passing it on to anyone who wants it!
I love all of you and wish you Sugary sweet day!
