There is something about being an adult with loads of responsibilities, challenges, conflicts and bills that seems to eat at one's imagination and creativity at times.
I have found both my art and blog suffer when I am not in a child like, happy space,
which always makes me curious how some artists, illustrators and other creative sorts keep their creativity fresh in spite of the same imagination eaters.
I will often wander over to the blog of this extremely imaginitive
Which also leads me to the question as to why illustrators are not called artists as well?
To me Thereza Rowe is an incredible artist, graphic designer and illustrator.
Her work is extremely creative and full of fun.

To bump up my imagination and the creative spirit deep within, I have started purchasing art from various artists, illustrators and other creative sorts that bring out the inner child in me.

I think it would be wonderful to share each of these talented people with you over the next few weeks.

To bring out more of the kid in me, Bella and I also spent yesterday morning in a friend's studio, refreshing the basics of art.
Beginning with painting some colour wheels.
What keeps the kid in you alive?
Do you have any ideas on how to bump up an imagination?
I really hope to hear all of your thoughts on this.
Happy Tuesday, friends

My little sister keeps the kid in me alive. We remind each other often of the fun we had when we were wee ones...Case in point...My Mom gave us Barbie and the Rocker Barbies for Christmas and we squealed like 6 year olds. We are 28 and 31 respectively. Ah ha ha
You are so right- and you are aldo right about Thereza's work- its totally stunning- and yes- she's is definitely an artist!-
have a lovely, 'inspired' day!

ohh Dee, what a lovely post!
thank you so much for such kind words about my work and also some great and insightful observations about keeping the inner child alive... well, my mental age never exceeded 12 hahaha
anyway, i'm glad to see you got your goodies safe and sound. thanks again! :)
Such a relatable topic. It's so hard to stay creative and fresh when pressures are building up all around.
I do the same thing, purchase small pieces from others who inspire me, whether it's in my medium or not. Color, texture, the obvious care and juice they put into what they make always seeps into me a bit when I hold their work in my hand. It's like a vitamin, a creativity supplement. :)
Hugs your way, Dee.
PS- You're an awesome mom.
Thereza does such cute and whimsical things. Love! And, I'm with Kristin about the sister thing! My sister definitely keeps the kid in me alive AND is my creative inspiration.
thereza is one of my favorite illustrators! her work grabbed me from the instant i first saw her blog and i've been enjoying her world ever since. i love the prints and pieces of tiny red that float around my house - looking at them always makes me happy! and as for keeping the inner child alive, i have two of them who keep me on my toes every day.
beautiful bright world you have here! :)
so great! i'd love to hear more about these artists. it's so refreshing to get in touch with the kid in you. xo!
Lovely post! I couldn't agree more, being able to play and stay amazed are in my opinion the most important skills of an artist. Thanks for this uplifting post!
Sweet Greetings from Frog Hollow Farm Girl. You know, I think the inner child can come out at any age, and with my recent early retirement I feel like I'm playing every single day. Playing for me is cooking, designing, gardening, planning, sitting, so many things! My son is an artist living outside of Asheville, NC,

Oooooh, I struggle with this. I've had to change my perspective on my artwork. It may sound lame, but when I'm not very productive (with photos, writing, etc.) I have to remind myself that I'm spending my creative energy as a mom, wife, and creator of our home life. Sometimes life is my canvas. :)
This is beautiful art. It would make me happy if I was looking at this everyday.
