a little bit of local loving....
One of my loves here in the South are the 'old school' garden/hardware shops.
I picked up my window box plants at this one yesterday and fully enjoyed every part of the experience.
The people are so helpful, the plants are beautiful and I felt like I stepped into another world.
Quirky, ambient, vintage and the best in gardening supplies and plants are what I loved about
Copper Creek Stoneworks and Nursery.
If you are a North Carolina local you may want to check them out.
They are located at 2411 Rocky River Road N. Monroe, NC.

Happy Wednesday!
I am so loving Spring and hoping you all get a good dose of sunshine!

boys...pfffft....
Our time at Debbie's studio this week was delightful.
Bella may have been ready to kill Espen a couple of times but all in all...
I think she kinda likes him.

Happy Tuesday friends!

weekend at zada janes..
Oh the insanity of taking...count them....6 kids out for dinner to a trendy little restaurant in Charlotte,
for a certain wonderful 16 year old's birthday.
I am going out on a limb here, but I do think they may have the best nachos in the world, however it isn't quite as enjoyable eating them while a certain two year old is fighting with you to run around the restaurant and some boys who will be unnamed, ahem....mine...seem like they may be on a sugar high and turning slightly thug on me.
Top that with the massive allergy attack that made my face numb and I couldn't seem to stop sneezing and you can only imagine my bliss.
(I really love all of our kids and their wonderful friends....it was just a very wild Saturday night.)
So there you have it a tiny window into a portion of our wild weekend along with a sleepover and a late late brunch of eggs, bagels and muenster cheese with some...
you guessed it very strong coffee (which was only for me) to help me get through my weekend chores.
I could use a good long nap today but that isn't going to happen...
:( waaah...
Oh well maybe we will get to bed early tonight and all will be well in my world once again.
Happy Monday, friends!

so happy its friday....
Decisions decisions decisions
Every week seems so full of them.
One of the big ones for us this week is debating on what we want for our logo.
We have created this one but we aren't sure if we want our names in it or just the simple initials DLS.
Knowing me, I will probably add a nest, some flowers, ivy and a couple of birds before the day is out.
I have a very tough time with keeping things simple and I'm not sure why that is.
All I know is I don't have a lot of decision making on the weekend,
which is why I am so happy it is Friday!
Here's to wishing all of you a sweet and peace filled weekend!

party like its 1999...
So for starters, I have to say a big, "I'm sorry", to my love because I laughed at him when he said we needed iphones.
I have always thought cell phones are not needed at all, let alone pricey ones.
I kind of thought they were silly and pretentious...
however the geek-dom got me, here, when my very talented and beautiful friend, Barb told me about this iphone app. called hipstamatic, for only $1.99.
Brodie's birthday photos would have looked terrible if I had of taken them with my regular camera, I think
but they actually look kind of fun when taken with my iphone and this app.
So I love you honey and think you are very cool for buying me my iphone
and thank you Barb, for sharing your iphone app. wonder with me!
Happy Thursday, friends!!
Enjoy!

a distant future plan....
Although our cafe dream (in our sidebar, under 'our faith') may be put on hold until most of our children are in college, I still feel that one day we will most definitely accomplish this dream too...
maybe even in the midst of a mountainous backdrop.
My thoughts on this were revisited to this dream as I read Alli from Hooray's, blog post today....
which I might add was very beautiful!
She posted about various studios but I have to say this is my idea of perfection for a studio/cafe.
If someone took a peak into my dreams for our future, Moomah would definitely be as close to my vision for a cafe/studio as any can get!
I am a smitten kitten for this wonderful studio!
We will definitely check it out when we finally head off to New York.
Don't you just want to book a class for the day and head off to Moomah, yourself?
Happy Wednesday, all of you wonderful people!

16 today.......
This guy makes us so proud!
It is so hard to believe he is 16 today.
He is talented in so many areas: music, skate boarding, art, the beginnings of architecture along with being a wonderful big brother, son and friend!
He has a huge heart and cares for everyone in his life.
We love this young man!
Happy 16th, Brodie!

luv,
all of us
( My cousin Dawn's post today rang so true with me about all of our kiddos. I am such a sentimental mush puppy when it comes to our children.)

kids' coffee with nina....
What better way to start a 2 year old's day?
Okay, maybe it isn't really coffee but shhh....Bella doesn't know that.
Cinnamon steamed milk with honey and a wee bit of whip cream on top to drink,
a new print of Nina van de Goor entertaining our eyes and the soft sounds of Ella Fitzgerald filling our kitchen.
What better way to start our day?!
As promised last week, I do want to introduce you all to the artists, who I have recently purchased art from and who are inspiring both my work and life as of late.
Although, I am sure she is no stranger to all of you,
I want to introduce you (or re-introduce you) to this young and extremely talented artist,
Nina van de Goor who beautifully inspires me through both her artwork and her captivating blog.
Nina is from the Netherlands. She was one of the first few people who truly inspired me in the Etsy arts' community.
Her work on ceramics along with her collage pieces playfully draw me in with their
beauty, simplicity, colours, gorgeous forms and strong influence from the 1940s & 50s.
My very favourite work of Nina's is always her photography as you can tell by this lovely print I purchased from her Etsy shop.
(Where I know you will all now run off to and make your own orders.)

Enjoy!
Happy Tuesday, friends!
We are off to do some mailing and some last minute birthday shopping for a certain young man in our home who is turning 16 tomorrow.
What are you all up to?

a new member in our household...
No, I don't have a bun in the oven but this newest addition to our home has Bella smiling.
Bella is sitting at the table, taking a peek at the new guy, Nemo along with her older sister, Bre and her daddy.
I love the way the older kids love their little sister so much.
Please excuse the background noises.
It is hard to find quiet in a home of 6 plus a dog.
Welcome home, Nemo!
Thank you for inspiring the sunshine to reign in our home...
right down to my salted caramel latte in a bold ray of sunshine cup.
Happy Monday, friends!
Wishing you a cheerful, sunny day today!
xoxo
